In our opinion, Provably Fair is the future, and this new technology offers players the ability to track whether they have been cheated or not. How often does it happen that you are playing a slot machine and the results seem strange to you? You sit in front of the slot machine for hours and don’t even activate the bonus game and just lose a lot of money. I think that every player knows this situation all too well.
Provably Fair solves this problem because after each spin you can see if a result was fair or not. This is what a licensor from Malta or the UK should do, but of course not for every player and every result. With provably fair you can personally verify every single spin.
But! It is also true that this does not say anything about the payout. What good is a slot machine with a 92% RTP that doesn’t cheat you but has a very bad payout? There you are certainly no better off than at a 97% slot machine that cheats with a minimal probability. But you can have your cake and eat it too as you can see below.
In the beginning it was really hard to find provably fair slot machines that are actually nice to look at and play. And which of course also offer a fair payout of 96%+. The problem is that you have to develop such slot machines from scratch. The algorithm how a slot machine generates its result must be understandable and easy to trace for everyone. You can’t just take existing slot machines from Netent, PlayN Go, etc. and make them provably fair. Therefore the offer is still limited in the year 2025. But there are enough to feel comfortable – and with a top payout!

RTP is the average percentage of money that returns to the player. An RTP of 98% means that the player can expect to be paid back 98 Euros if he bet 100 Euros. The remaining 2 Euros are the house edge, i.e. what the casino wins in the long run. The higher the RTP, the better for the player. The RTP must be considered over a very long period of time, since the variance of slot machines is very high. Therefore, it is not impossible that you have a RTP of 15% after 50 spins, for example, and 300% for the next 50 spins. You have to accept that especially with slot machines there are a lot of variations included.
It always depends. A 99% RTP is of course very high, but if you don’t like the slot machine or it’s not provably fair, you don’t get much out of it. Therefore you should not be stubbornly looking at the RTP. The normal range is between 96% and 97.5%. Less is definitely not good and you shouldn’t get involved in that. And more is very seldom to find or often means other disadvantages.
You would think they would be worse or the few manufacturers there are would take advantage of their market position. But this is not the case. At least not at BGaming who not only offer a very wide range of provably fair slots, but also some with very decent payouts. One can definitely not say that provably fair slot machines have bad RTPs, quite the contrary: the bad RTPs are mostly found at very old and not very innovative manufacturers like Playtech, Microgaming but also PlayN Go whose flagship slot Book of Dead pays well below 96%.
There are still no real blockbusters and there is no slot machine from BGaming that is actually more popular than all the others.
